Let's face it, everybody loves a good travel story especially when it involves someone ELSE getting into a bit of trouble or having something go wrong. Most of us seem to have a wicked sense of humour, even though we really feel sympathy for the person telling the story. Almost like a sweet relief that it can happen to others as well as ourselves.
What about your travel story?
If you have a good travel story and you'd like to share it, we'd love to hear from you.

The story should be funny and involve some form of misfortune, or funny incident, which by brilliant cunning and a big dose of the street-smarts, you happened to turn into an epic adventure. It can be about someone else. Obviously the funnier the better and slight exaggerations will be tolerated.

A travelogue type story about your trip or excursion. Obviously giving tips for other travellers about the locations and attractions. Use this as a dry run for that travel writing submission.
Will this Travel Story idea work??
We have no idea if this is going to work - or even get any submissions, so we'll play it by ear at the moment., We would like to make it a voted monthly-winner type of thing. If anything happens, we'll try to work out some sort of prize structure as well. Don't hold your breath for any Hollywood contracts, or Conde Nast assignments, but we'll do something.
No small print on this. You own the story outright forever and no ownership transfers to us, unless you give it away. We reserve the right to edit stories for space considerations and to refuse to publish any stories which are just nasty ramblings. Stories submitted in the spirit of the idea will be published.
Okay, up to you. We'll put stories up as and if they happen.
For a start, here's a travelogue-type story from our friend Gudbjorg Bragadottir, who runs KGB Tours in Iceland.
